About CourtCanvas

CourtCanvas is a basketball shot chart studio that lets you transform real NBA shot data into cinematic art posters. Select a legendary player and game, choose an artistic theme, and export a high-resolution poster — all powered by real shot coordinate data from historical NBA games.

We believe sports data can be beautiful. Every shot attempt tells part of a story — the geometry of a player's game, the patterns that define a legend, the moments that made history. CourtCanvas exists to make that data visible as art, not just as numbers in a spreadsheet.

Shot chart data is sourced from publicly available NBA statistics. All shot coordinates, game results, and player performance data represent historical facts — not creative works — and are used in accordance with the legal principles established in NBA v. Motorola (1997), which held that factual sports statistics are not subject to copyright protection.

CourtCanvas is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially licensed by the NBA, NBA Properties, Inc., or any NBA team. Player names and team references are used in an informational and statistical context only.

Built with Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. Shot visualisations are rendered as pure SVG with no external charting libraries. Poster export uses html2canvas for client-side image generation.
